BLUE APPLE
DIGITAL 0-10 AMP METER & EXTENSION LEAD KIT
The Blue Apple range of portable solar panels come fully equipped with everything you would need to start harnessing solar power straight away. However, if you are the kind of person who would like to know exactly what your panels are producing then the Amp meter and Extension lead kit is a great optional extra!
Each Blue Apple panels is supplied standard with a 5mt cable with a 50Amp Anderson connection. But what if you are parked in the shade and the 5 meter cable is not long enough? ... This kit includes an additional 5 meters 6mm Anderson to Anderson extension lead to allow you the use of 10 meters of cable in total (if used with the standard 5mt lead)
The kit also comes included with the Blue Apple Amp meter.
This Amp meter is rated from 0 – 10 Amps and designed to be used in line of the panel and battery. The Blue Apple Amp meter is designed to go inline of the solar panel and the battery in order to give you an indication of what the panel is producing at that given moment. The Amp meter is designed to aid you in finding the right position in order to achieve maximum results from your solar panel.
The Amp meter is to be used as a guide only and is not weatherproof, it is therefore not recommended to leave the amp meter in line all the time.
In order for the Amp meter to read correctly, you must plug the connector that is on your solar panel into the outlet on the amp meter that is next to the read out gauge (either digital or analogue read out). The connection on the end of the lead from the Amp meter must then connect directly to the battery (in some cases you may need to use an adaptor such as alligator clips in order to make this connection)
If for some reason you incorrectly connect the amp meter (swap the connections around), you will notice the gauge will read backwards. Do not be alarmed as you have not caused any damage, you will simply need to swap the connections of the amp meter and you will notice the gauge will then read correctly
The Amp meter box is also equipped with a digital Volt meter read out which will illuminate BLUE and will give an exact reading of your batteries current voltage.
The last component of the kit is the 50Amp Anderson to Alligator clamps. This adaptor can be used to convert the Anderson connection on the solar panel to connect directly onto any battery terminal with the use of the alligator clamps.
